Memorial Day

Hope you all had a wonderful memorial day.  I am so thankful for the men and women have made sacrifices so that our country could be free.

Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery

I had a really good weekend with my family.  We went to the cemetery yesterday to put flowers on my grandpa Hardwick's grave and a flag of course (We put flowers on grandma's and Jonathan's as well).  He served in World War 2.  It was the first time in years that I went to the cemetery and there wasn't flags on the known soldiers graves. I couldn't help but to make sure the man buried next to my grandpa had a flag. I never met my grandpa Hardwick but I know without a doubt in my mind the kind of man he was.  He most likely was very similar to my dad, who doesn't know a stranger and will do anything for anyone and not only that but he served his country.  While at the cemetery I also got to observe the memorial day service for the fallen men and women... there's just something about the way taps sounds at the cemetery on memorial day weekend brings tears to my eyes.
No words can say enough to show my gratitude for the men and women who serve our country.  Who have given their lives.  Who have given up time with their family.  Who are overseas now.  Who are thinking about joining the military.

I am thankful for the soldiers and their families of the past, present and future!
